Oak Knoll had corner after corner in its field hockey sectional final against Montclair Kimberley, but couldn't find the cage. But the Royals found other ways to score and pulled out a 3-1 triumph. Kathleen O'Connor had two goals as Oak Knoll scored all three times in the second half. Ryan McCarthy had the go-ahead goal for the Royals with about 12 minutes left. Goalie Colleen Conway made nine saves.
MKA tied the game 1-1 on a goal by Paige Pacifico off a feed from Izzy Mendez. The Cougars played solid defense and goalie Molly Peek made 10 saves, but eventually Oak Knoll was able to break through. Montclair Kimberley finishes the season at 18-5-1. Oak Knoll is now 22-1 and will face St. Joseph of Hammonton for the Non-Public state title on Saturday. This is the first year that New Jersey has a separate designation for non-public teams in the state tournament.
