In a matchup of two of New Jersey's best field hockey teams, West Essex came out the clear winner over Montclair. With Lia Sinisi notching a goal and two assists, the Knights blanked the Mounties, 3-0.

Sinisi scored on a penalty stroke and set up goals by Christina Cammarata and Gabby Girardi. West Essex goalie Paige Innarella made six saves, including a stop on a Montclair penalty stroke attempt.

With 17 saves in the game, Mounties goalie Cassandra Cardenas was able to keep her team in touch until the later stages of the contest. Montclair falls to 5-2.

West Essex is still unbeaten this year with a 6-0-1 mark. The Knights have posted six straight shutout victories after being held to a 1-1 tie in their season opener by Voorhees. Up soon, West Essex faces a big showdown with Oak Knoll on September 30th; the Royals are one of the few teams in New Jersey rated ahead of the Knights.
