Seton Hall Prep scored a dominant victory in the Essex County boys' lacrosse tournament final as it captured its fourth straight title. The Pirates took charge with an early flurry of goals and rolled to the 18-6 victory over Montclair. With the game tied 1-1 early on, Seton Hall scored four times in just over a minute to seize control. The Pirates didn't let up for the rest of the first half, making it 13 straight goals to take a 14-1 lead into halftime.
Jack Sarson scored five goals to pace the Seton Hall offense. Brian Tevlin had three goals and three assists, while Griffin Westlin contributed two goals and four assists. Dan Zarillo had two goals and an assist, and six other players added single goals for the top-seeded Pirates. Colin Kirst made five saves while allowing just one goal in the first half before coming out of the game. Montclair, the sixth seed, surprised almost everyone by reaching this county final, played at Nutley High School. But the Mounties could not improve on their regular-season performance against Seton Hall. Will Wrede had three goals for the Mounties. Shane Duffy notched a goal and an assist. Montclair is now 4-11 overall. Seton Hall is now 11-4.
