Madison won 21 games last field hockey season, and the Dodgers appear poised for another big fall in 2014. Dominating throughout, Madison shut out Pequannock 7-0 in the opening game for both squads. Elizabeth Romano scored three times for the Dodgers. Maeve Byrne had the first two goals of the game, while Emma Ticknor and Lauren Taylor also scored. Stephanie Dellavia recorded three assists for Madison.
Goalie Emilie Flamme was credited with just one save to earn the shutout, as Madison dominated control of the ball. Pequannock's starting goalie, Kaitlyn Natoli, made a whopping 21 saves. Madison won the Morris County title last year. Its only loss came in heartbreaking fashion in the sectional final to Shore Regional. The Dodgers, ranked in the state's Top Ten, won't have to contend with Shore in this year's state playoffs.
