DePaul has only one senior on its boys' basketball team this season. But the presence of that senior, Juwuan Carter, proved crucial for the Spartans as they pulled out an overtime victory over crosstown rivals Wayne Hills. Carter had 26 points, including the final basket of regulation, to lead DePaul to the 62-58 triumph. Wayne Hills held a five-point lead heading into the fourth quarter before the Spartans rallied to force the extra session.
Debon Bright added nine points for DePaul, while Robert Robinson and Jordan Thomas scored eight apiece. Thomas was injured in the overtime when he was fouled while completing a breakaway layup and suffered a possible broken arm. Dorian Hodge led Wayne Hills with 20 points, while Scott Wills contributed 14. The Patriots suffered their second straight narrow loss to fall to 6-4. DePaul is now 5-5.
