Years of frustration melted away in a series of pins as Wayne Valley won its first-ever wrestling sectional title. The Indians pulled off a mild upset by defeating Paramus, 36-29, to capture the North 1, Group III crown.

Wayne Valley built a big lead by scoring four straight pins en route to the victory. Anthony Landberg started the streak at 195 pounds, followed by Justin Walker, Austin Behrens and Brandon Davis.

Zach D'Apolito won a key match for the Indians when he surprised Nick Bucci 7-6 at 170 pounds.

Joe Trovato and Alex Sebahie had pins for top-seeded Paramus, which finishes its dual-meet season at 18-7.

Wayne Valley, which improved to 14-3, moved on to meet Clearview in the Group III state semifinals.
