Kinnelon scored seven runs in the sixth inning to come from behind, then held on for a crazy 13-12 softball victory over Wayne Valley. The Colts trailed for the entire game until the big outburst in the bottom of the sixth. Sam Schwed went 3-for-5 for Kinnelon with two doubles and three RBI. Sierra Jacko had a two-run double while Alexa Saccomanno also drove in two runs. Julia Balick was 4-for-5 with an RBI and Maddy Ledwith went 3-for-4 and drove in a run.
Kinnelon chose not to use its ace pitcher, Megan Beiermeister, in the game. Jacko came in to pitch in the fourth inning and kept Wayne Valley scoreless for the first 3-2/3 innings. Down 13-8, Wayne Valley pushed across four runs with two outs in the top of the seventh. With the tying run at third base, though, Saccomanno made a nice play in the hole at shortstop to secure the final out and end the game. Cassandra Gerard had two doubles and 3 RBI for the Indians. Amanda Robinson, Madison Hendershott and Sophie Worrall delivered two hits and drove in two runs each. Wayne Valley, which fell the previous evening to DePaul in the Passaic County Tournament final, saw its record drop to 11-12. Kinnelon improves to 13-7.
