The only point Ryan Curtiss scored proved to be the game winner for the Ramapo boys' basketball team. Curtiss hit one free throw with two seconds left to allow the Green Raiders to survive a sectional semifinal against Wayne Hills, 57-56. Ramapo pulled out the win despite seeing a 16-point fourth quarter evaporate in a furious Wayne Hills comeback. Curtiss was fouled after rebounding a missed shot and made the second of his two foul shots to break a tie score.
Chris Gordon led Ramapo with 16 points, and Matt Latka added 15. Joe O'Hagan scored eight for the Raiders, who led 51-35 early in the fourth quarter. Wayne Hills tied the game at 54-54 with a 19-3 run. After Latka made two foul shots, Dorian Hodge answered with a pair of free throws to tie the game again, setting up the final sequence. Hodge and Joey Belli led Wayne Hills with 13 points apiece. Jason Modak scored 12 and Joey Kenny added 11 for the fourth-seeded Patriots. Wayne Hills ends its season with a 22-5 record. Ramapo, the top seed, moves on to the North 1, Group III sectional final. The Raiders (25-3) will host #2 seed Teaneck.
