A huge fourth-inning rally backed the shutout pitching of Kristina Kowal as Wayne Valley earned a 10-0 softball victory over crosstown rival Wayne Hills. The Indians busted open a scoreless game by scoring eight runs in the fourth. Wayne Valley would tack on a pair of runs in the fifth and close out the win via the mercy rule.
Kowal allowed five hits over five innings and struck out three in blanking Wayne Hills. She also had an RBI single as part of the huge outburst. Hanna Robinson's double started the big rally, in which 14 batters came to the plate. Gabrielle Goodwin, Emily Kilgallen, Amanda Robinson and Kowal had run-scoring hits. Sophie Worrall also drove in a run and Wayne Valley benefited from a couple of errors by the Patriots. Amanda Robinson added another RBI in the fifth inning. Rachel Vellis had two hits for Wayne Hills, which drops to 3-5 on the season. Wayne Valley is now 6-3.
