Year in and year out, the Immaculate Heart Academy softball team is one of the top programs in New Jersey. Playing with heavy hearts, the Blue Eagles are once again rolling up the victories in 2016. IHA won its 15th consecutive game with an 8-1 road triumph over Clifton. The Blue Eagles scored seven runs in the first three innings, providing more than enough offense for pitcher Sarah Siclari.
Siclari allowed four hits and the one run in going the distance. She struck out 13 batters while walking two as she picked up her third win of the season. Reese Guevarra went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI. Ally Dudek had a pair of hits for the Blue Eagles and also drove in two runs. Victoria Casey had a 2-for-3 day, scoring three runs and driving in one. Emilie Cieslak and Sonia Sharma also had RBI's for IHA and Taylor Gallagher collected two hits. Clifton's only run came on a sacrifice fly by Kayla Vance. Six errors in the field hurt the Mustangs' cause as they fell to 10-8. Now 16-1, IHA is ranked #4 in New Jersey. This is the Blue Eagles' first season since the unexpected death of coach Anthony LaRezza this past winter.
