Wayne Hills was the best baseball team in Passaic County throughout the 2009 sports season. The top-seeded Patriots left no doubt about it in the county tournament final against #2 seed Pompton Lakes.

Brian Dowling was dominant on the hill, allowing just three hits over six innings as the Patriots rolled to a 12-0 triumph. The game was ended in the bottom of the sixth on the mercy rule when Jordan Kessel blasted a three-run homer to push the Wayne Hills lead into double digits.

Dowling struck out eight and walked four in his shutout performance. Travis Della Volpe had a homer and drove in four runs.
