*Click here for a photo gallery by Robert Harris.* Lenape Valley danced through the raindrops to keep its perfect baseball record alive. The Patriots scored six times in the fourth inning to knock off local rival Hopatcong, 10-6, in a game shortened by the steady rain. Dan Rafferty and Tyler Rogers delivered a pair of two-out, two-run doubles as part of the big rally for Lenape Valley. The Patriots had just five hits in the game but took advantage of five Hopatcong errors, plus several wild pitches and passed balls.
The conditions for the game were far from ideal with a steady rain falling throughout. The umpires called the game after Hopatcong was retired in the top of the fifth inning. Shea Bongiovanni had a two-run homer for the Chiefs that gave them an early lead. Jay Vanderhoof knocked in two runs with a double for Hopatcong, which falls to 1-3. Cole Swanson earned the win in relief for the Patriots. He threw 2-1/3 innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out three batters. Lenape Valley is 4-0.
