|VIDEO: Montclair Kimberley edges Princeton Day in overtime|
Izzy Mendez scored her second goal of the game about three minutes into sudden-death overtime to lift Montclair Kimberley to a 3-2 win over Princeton Day School in the Prep B field hockey state semifinals.
The top-seeded Cougars twice came from behind in the game, and forced the overtime on Alix Talkow's rebound goal with under four minutes to play in regulation. Mendez then converted off a corner in the extra session to pull out the win.
The MKA senior scored her first goal on a brilliant solo effort as she beat several defenders before flicking the shot home. Mendez also started the play that led to the tying goal.
Amanda D'Alessandro had two assists for the Cougars. Goalie Hannah Gross made six saves.
Princeton Day got goals from Rowan Schomburg and Madison Mundenar and solid goaltending by Amanda Abrams. The Panthers fall to 6-13-1.
Montclair Kimberley is now 12-8-1 and will host Morristown-Beard in Sunday's final.
