Shepard led the offense with three goals and three assists. Jake Moss had two goals and an assist while Thomas Zusi also scored twice for Pingry.
George Enman contributed a goal and an assist. Frankie Dillon allowed no goals in the first half and made seven saves.
Somerville made things interesting with three straight goals in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 7-4, but Pingry answered with a score to short-circuit the rally.
Jeff Cassell had two goals and an assist for Somerville. Ryan Pedrani added a goal and an assist, while A.J. Quade made 13 saves. The Pioneers fall to 1-5 on the season, with all of their defeats coming against the stiff competition within Somerset County.
