Morgan O'Neill hit two home runs and also earned the win as she led DePaul to a softball victory over Wayne Valley. O'Neill drove in three runs while pitching a three-hitter in the Spartans' 7-3 win.
DePaul jumped ahead in the game with three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed. The Spartans built their lead to 7-1 in the middle of the fifth inning.
Wayne Valley loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth, and Kristina Kowal delivered a two-run single. But a third runner was cut down on the play, and O'Neill avoided any further damage.
O'Neill struck out seven while walking four in the contest.
Nikki D'Ambrosia had a run-scoring single for DePaul. Sydney Fleming and Danielle Trongone had triples and scored runs.
Amanda Robinson also drove in a run for Wayne Valley. The Indians fall to 7-8.
DePaul, which has had an up-and-down season including an upset win over IHA, is now 9-6.
