Written by - Friday, November 4 2016

Marquez Antinori ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns, pacing Old Tappan to a 34-24 win over Ramapo. In the regular-season finale for both teams, Antinori scored late in the third quarter and again early in the fourth to break open a close game.

Erik Slater added 60 rushing yards and a touchdown for Old Tappan. The Golden Knights took the lead for good just before halftime when Jack Bilali threw a touchdown pass to Sal DeBenedetto on a fourth-down play.

Ramapo quarterback Tommy Jaten threw a trio of touchdown passes on the night. His second scoring throw to Jack Scordato cut the Old Tappan lead to 21-17 in the third quarter. But Antinori answered a few plays later with a 54-yard run to rebuild the lead.

Michael Graff had a late touchdown reception to account for the final score. Scordato led all receivers in yardage with four catches for 68 yards, while Dan Diaz caught nine passes for 39 yards. Jaten went 21-for-36 passing for 195 yards total.

With the loss, Ramapo falls to 6-3, but will still be the second seed in the upcoming North 1, Group III state playoffs. The Green Raiders will host seventh-seed Bergenfield in the quarterfinal round.

Old Tappan improves to 7-2, but the Golden Knights will be the fourth seed in the same sectional playoffs. Old Tappan gets a first-round home game against Jefferson this coming weekend.
