The semifinal of the Big North Silver Cup was like two different ice hockey games. Tenafly/Cresskill dominated the first half of the contest, building a 3-0 lead, but West Milford made things very interesting. The Tigers managed to just hold on, however, to post a 4-2 win and advance to the finals. Julian Tallier had a goal and two assists for Tenafly. Minwoo Song, Matt Mankovsky and Andy Chang also scored goals for the Tigers, who could have led by six or seven goals at the midway point in the contest.
Matt Brown and Nic L'Heureux had two assists apiece for Tenafly. Goalie Kyle Picinic made 30 saves, including a number of key stops after West Milford cut the lead to 3-2. Brandon Little and Jared Miller struck for goals less than a minute apart in the second period for the Highlanders. Chris Dressler assisted on both tallies. Nick Johansson made 26 saves for West Milford. The Highlanders, seeded fifth in the Big North Silver Cup, saw their season come to an end with a 10-13-2 record. Top-seeded Tenafly would come back the next night and beat Clifton in overtime to capture the Silver Cup trophy. Now 14-8-2, the Tigers will face Montclair in a first-round state tournament game.
