Written by - Tuesday, June 10 2014

The East team continued its dominance of the Paul Robeson All-Star Classic football game with a 41-20 win Tuesday night in East Orange. The star was a hometown player, Damion Thomas of East Orange, who threw for a touchdown and ran for two others.

Thomas helped spark a 20-point surge in the second quarter that allowed the East team, combining Essex County and eastern Passaic County, to pull away. He was named his team's offensive MVP.

Matt Thies of Caldwell threw a pair of touchdown passes for the East. Isaiah Scott of West Orange won defensive MVP honors for the East, and Zach Jones of Montclair returned a blocked field goal 80 yards for a score.

Ryan Love of West Milford caught eight passes for 63 yards and a touchdown to be named offensive MVP for the West, which includes Morris, Sussex and western Passaic Counties. Adam Rayford of Pompton Lakes earned defensive MVP honors for the West team, while his twin brother Drew caught a touchdown pass.

The East has won 18 of the 21 games in this series.
