Staging a remarkable comeback, Wayne Hills won the battle with its crosstown rival on the football field. The Patriots came back from 18 points behind to stun previously-undefeated Wayne Valley, 28-18. Brendan DeVera threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 85 yards and a score to lead the Wayne Hills rally. The quarterback completed 14-of-22 passes, with both of his touchdown throws going to Joey Kenny.
Luca Grave added 79 rushing yards and a touchdown while catching five passes for 46 yards. The comeback gave Wayne Hills bragging rights in town for the season, as well as the title in the Big North Conference's Colonial Division. Wayne Valley, still playing without star quarterback Nick Goodwin, charged out to an 18-0 lead in the second quarter. Grant Ferrauilo continued his solid play in relief of the injured Goodwin, completing 10-of-17 passes for 195 yards. Will Kearney led a balanced Indians' running attack with 48 yards and scored both Wayne Valley touchdowns. Ryan Monteyne had 77 receiving yards and Elijah Beard added 63 yards receiving. The loss drops Wayne Valley to 8-1 on the season. The Indians are the fifth seed in the tough North 1, Group IV playoff bracket and must travel to face Morris Knolls in the first round. Wayne Hills is now 7-2. The Patriots are the seventh seed in North 1, Group IV and also face a first-round road game against a strong Roxbury team.
