Nick Goodwin returned to the lineup for Wayne Valley, looking like he never left, and the Indians hit on all cylinders in their first round state playoff game. With Goodwin throwing for nearly 200 yards and two scores, and Will Kearney scoring twice on the ground, Wayne Valley rolled past Morris Knolls, 34-14. Joe Scancarella caught seven passes for 89 yards and a touchdown for the Indians, while Ryan Monteyne had three catches for 37 yards and two scores. Goodwin, while not piling up his usual yardage on the ground, was still the leading rusher for Wayne Valley with 69 yards.
Kearney had 40 yards rushing to go along with his two scores, and Nick Gould added 62 rushing yards. Adam Lounsbery had a remarkable all-around defensive game for Wayne Valley. He made 10 tackles, including a sack, forced a fumble and recovered another fumble. Lounsbery also blocked a punt that helped set up the Indians in good field position. Morris Knolls had success moving the ball in the middle of the field but could not finish off its drives until the fourth quarter. Nick Vittorio ran for 123 yards and both touchdowns for the Golden Eagles. Jayson Parisi added 61 rushing yards. The fourth seed in North 1, Group IV, Morris Knolls finishes the season at 7-3. Wayne Valley, the fifth seed, is now 9-1 and moves on to play top-seeded Old Tappan in the sectional semifinals next weekend.
