Behind two goals and two assists from Devin Pepe, the Montclair Kimberley ice hockey team remained unbeaten in league play this winter. The Cougars blanked Millburn 5-0 at Clary Anderson Arena in Montclair. Alex Contey faced just 12 shots in the shutout, although he did have some tough chances due to numerous power-play opportunities for the Millers. Both teams took a slew of penalties in this game, which turned chippy after MKA built a big lead.
Three other players besides Pepe scored goals for the Cougars. Brian Schindler and Jason Gertz had a goal and an assist apiece, while Joshua Pickett also found the net. Oscar Wohrob and Conor Nolan registered two assists apiece. Gabe Nadell made 20 saves for Millburn. The Millers are 7-5-3 overall, but just 0-5-1 in NJIHL American Division play. MKA is now 6-0 in division play, and 7-4-2 overall. The Cougars face crosstown rival Montclair, which is also unbeaten in NJIHL play so far this season, in a key showdown on Tuesday.
