A disciplined and determined Livingston team slowed down the red-hot Montclair ice hockey squad. Limiting offensive opportunities, the Lancers played the unbeaten Mounties to a 2-2 tie at Codey Arena. Shane Duffy's power-play goal in the third period tied the game for Montclair, which trailed for a good portion of the contest. Duffy's shot deflected high in the air off a defenseman and came down behind Livingston goalie Matt Delseni.
The Mounties had a pair of great chances to win the game in the final two minutes. Defenseman Ryan Dallow swatted away the puck from the goalmouth on the first opportunity, then Delseni made a save on a 2-on-1 in the final seconds. Chase Friedfertig and Minkyu Yang had the goals for Livingston. Ronan Tattersall notched a pair of assists, and Jake Crockett also had an assist. Delseni made 19 saves. Remy Parker had Montclair's first goal, assisted by Mike Gerne. Goalie Ondrej Smalec made 22 saves. Montclair is now 12-0-2 on the season. The Mounties remain in first place in the NJIHL American Division with a 5-0-1 league record. Livingston is 10-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in league play.
