It won't go down as one of the more memorable games of the season for the Ramapo ice hockey team. But the 11-1 triumph over DePaul was important, as it secured a state playoff berth for the Green Raiders. After starting slowly and falling behind 1-0, the Raiders dominated the struggling Spartans. Michael Pear, Graham Key, Jake Pergolizzi and Zach Van Peenan scored two goals each. Pear also added two assists.
Alex Pazos had a six-point night for Ramapo, with one goal and five assists. Steven Knight and Maxx Trabattoni also had goals and Stephen Schwab added three assists. Luke Mutterer made nine saves for Ramapo. Andrew Majowicz scored the DePaul goal on an assist from Joe Dellapi. Goalie Vincent Stabile made 24 saves. The Spartans are 0-17 in their first season back at the varsity level. The win gets Ramapo to .500 at 8-8-6 just in time for the state tournament cutoff date. The Raiders will first play in the Big North Liberty Cup, which begins on Friday.
