In a defensive battle, the Glen Rock girls' lacrosse team overcame a tremendous goaltending effort to pull out a win over Pequannock. Maddie Dill scored early in the second overtime for the game-winner in the 6-5 triumph. It was Dill's second goal of the game to go along with one assist. The contest was part of the Autism Awareness Day doubleheader hosted by Immaculate Heart Academy.
Pequannock goalie Jenny Soriero nearly won the game for her team with a remarkable 19-save performance. The Panthers led 5-4 before Glen Rock scored to tie the game with about three minutes left in regulation. Glen Rock, also known as the Panthers, got a goal and an assist apiece from Killeen McDonald and Mary Kate Horton. Julia Gaffey and Emily Schaefer also scored and Elizabeth Burgoyne made eight saves. Alexis Amore had two goals for Pequannock. Lauren Burklow, Arden Kassaleh and Samantha Murphy had the other goals as Pequannock fell to 5-4. Glen Rock has won eight consecutive games and is now 8-1.
