This time, Pingry got the last laugh. And as a result, the Big Blue will get a chance to play for the Somerset County title. Pingry scored the final two goals of a wild semifinal to defeat Montgomery, 14-13. It was the second one-goal game in less than a week between the two boys' lacrosse squads; Montgomery won the previous meeting in overtime.
George Enman led Pingry with five goals and two assists. Thomas Zusi scored four times, including the game-winner with just over three minutes to play. Ben Shepard had a huge game for the Big Blue with two goals and six assists. Austin Chang scored twice with an assist, and Jake Moss notched a goal and two assists. David Metzger and Frankie Dillon split time in net for third-seeded Pingry, each coming up with five saves. For #2 seed Montgomery, Wyatt Colangelo scored a whopping six goals. Kyle Marrapodi scored four times and added a pair of assists. Mike Yanovitch had 10 saves for the Cougars, who are 11-3 on the season. Pingry is now 11-2. The Big Blue will take on top seed, and the #1 team in New Jersey, Bridgewater-Raritan in Saturday's county final. It's a rematch of last year's final, won by Bridgewater as part of its perfect season.
