VIDEO: Bridgewater-Raritan bests Pingry for another county title

The Bridgewater-Raritan boys' lacrosse team just keeps on winning.

The Panthers won their 37th consecutive game, and claimed the Somerset County championship, with a victory over Pingry. Bridgewater-Raritan pulled away in the third quarter and went on to score an 11-8 triumph.

Brian Kolen had three goals and one assist to lead a balanced scoring effort for Bridgewater. Sean MacKinney and Ryan Kaden added two goals and one assist apiece.

Ethan Locker and Ethan Christensen also scored two goals apiece for the Panthers. Top-seeded Bridgewater scored five times in the third quarter to take control of the game after leading 4-2 at the half.

Kyle O'Neil made seven saves in the net for the Panthers.

Ben Shepard paced Pingry, the third seed, with three goals and two assists. Shepard scored the 100th goal of his high school career in the first quarter.

Thomas Zusi notched two goals and two assist for the Big Blue. Jake Moss and Austin Chang had a goal and an assist apiece and George Enman also scored.

Pingry is now 11-3. The Big Blue has one more regular-season game scheduled before starting state tournament play, where they are the top seed in Non-Public B.

Bridgewater-Raritan will head into the state tournament at 14-0. The Panthers will be seeking to repeat both as Group IV state champions and Tournament of Champions winner.
