With the top seed and home-field advantage, Madison knows it has a great chance to capture a boys' lacrosse sectional title. The Dodgers took the next step with a 10-6 victory over Glen Ridge in the quarterfinal round. Matt Jackson scored three goals in the first half as Madison built a 6-1 lead. Ian Waresk then scored three times after halftime to help the Dodgers thwart any comeback hopes for the Ridgers.
Both Jackson and Waresk also had an assist. Pat Grahling and Will Anton contributed two goals and one assist apiece for the Dodgers. Justin Dalena had two assists. Goalie Nick Spagnoletti was strong in net for Madison, making 14 saves. Nathaniel Johns scored three times for ninth-seeded Glen Ridge. Tyler Grady had two goals and one assist, and Michael Faugno also scored. The Ridgers, who play in one of New Jersey's elite leagues, found it rough going this season. They finish with a 5-12 record. Madison, which has been up-and-down this season, is now 12-6. By a quirk of the sectional breakdowns, this match-up in South Group I featured teams from Morris and Essex Counties. The remaining four teams in the section are all more likely regarded as northern squads; Madison next takes on fourth seed New Providence in the semifinals.
