An eight-goal outburst in the third quarter helped the Pingry boys' lacrosse team earn a return trip to the state finals. The Big Blue pulled away after a close first half to defeat Morristown-Beard 17-9 in the Non-Public B semifinal round. Austin Chang scored five times to lead Pingry's offensive onslaught. Thomas Zusi and Jake Moss contributed three goals and one assist apiece for the top-seeded Big Blue.
George Enman had two goals and four assists as the top point-getter for Pingry. Ben Shepard notched a goal and four assists. Max Cummings, Drew Brosie and Chris Dugan also scored for the Big Blue. Goalies Frankie Dillon and David Metzger combined for 11 saves. Morristown-Beard, the fourth seed, briefly took the lead in the second quarter and tied the score just after halftime before the big Pingry outburst. Connor Morin paced the Crimson with four goals and two assists. Harris Johnson had two goals and one assist for the visitors. Brad Dallas, Mack Iuliano and Sam Hatfield also scored for Morristown-Beard, which ends the season 8-14. Pingry goes to 14-3 with the win. The Big Blue faces second seed Montclair Kimberley in the Non-Public B state final.
