VIDEO: Bound Brook gets bizarre win over Pingry | ||

It hardly came according to their script--or anyone else's, for that matter. But Bound Brook found a way to win its third straight football game to start the season. After only scoring two safeties in the first 45 minutes of the game, the Crusaders put up 10 points in the final three minutes to pull out a 14-6 road win over Pingry. A 35-yard field goal by Michael Borja was the pivotal play, giving Bound Brook the lead late in the contest.
After the big kick, Pingry was forced to go for it on fourth down on the next possession and threw an incomplete pass. Two plays later, Joshua Ejiogu ran 27 yards for a touchdown for the Crusaders. Pingry still had a chance to tie the game in the final minute, reaching the Bound Brook 25-yard line. But an interception by Mason Horsburgh sealed the win for the Crusaders. Before the frantic finish, defense dominated this game. Pingry led 6-4 on a touchdown scramble by quarterback Spencer Spellman, but otherwise had little success moving the ball. The Bound Brook defense also scored twice on safeties, both times on sacks by Tyson Amaker. Pingry's defense had a pair of interceptions and twice stopped the Crusaders inside their 10-yard line. Alex Navarro threw for 94 yards for Bound Brook. Ejiogu was the game's leading rusher with 45 yards. Spellman compiled 109 yards through the air, with Channing Russell the top receiver for the Big Blue with 49 yards on two catches. Joe Possumato ran for 42 yards. Bound Brook stays unbeaten at 3-0 with the comeback win, while Pingry slips to 0-3.
