For a while in their Week 4 football matchup, Pingry had the upper hand on Dayton. But then Antonio Salcfas took over for the Bulldogs. The junior quarterback made big plays with his feet and his arm as Dayton rallied for a 19-6 triumph. Salcfas ran for 165 yards and a touchdown and threw for 129 yards and two more scores.
With Dayton down late in the first half, Salcfas quickly led the Bulldogs downfield to score before the break. Two long passes to his brother, Jovanni Salcfas, keyed the drive, including a 30-yard scoring strike. Right after halftime, Dayton scored again, and Antonio Salcfas made the key plays running the ball. He finished off the drive with a three-yard touchdown run. The final points of the game came early in the fourth quarter when Salcfas threw to Joe Kastner for a 25-yard touchdown. Pingry took an early lead on a touchdown run by Clyde Leef, but the Big Blue could not cash in on a couple of promising possessions after that. Once the momentum turned, Pingry couldn't generate much offense the rest of the way. Quarterback Spencer Spellman passed for 82 yards and ran for 59. Leef had 35 rushing yards along with his touchdown, and caught two passes for 31 yards. The Big Blue falls to 0-4. Dayton breaks into the win column with the victory and is now 1-3.
