In a game of big scoring plays, Pingry made one more than South Hunterdon to earn its first win of the football season. The Big Blue celebrated Homecoming with the 21-14 triumph. Obi Nnaeto raced 76 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter for what proved to be the winning score for Pingry. Nnaeto ended the day as the leading rusher, carrying the ball 14 times for 102 yards.
The Big Blue opened the scoring in the first quarter as quarterback Spencer Spellman ran 26 yards for a touchdown. They doubled the lead in the second period when Channing Russell scooped up a low, bouncing punt and scooted 27 yards into the end zone. South Hunterdon struggled offensively for much of the game, but hit a 58-yard touchdown pass from Chris Jackson to Eric Myers in the third quarter to make it 14-6. Pingry seemed to have the game in hand after Nnaeto's big run, until an interception return for a touchdown by the Eagles' Jack Myers made things interesting in the final minutes. But the Big Blue defense shut the door to secure the victory. Pingry is now 1-4, while South Hunterdon falls to 0-6.
