A touchdown with 13 seconds left to play gave Harrison an exciting 35-28 football triumph over New Milford. Mike O'Donnell tossed the 14-yard scoring pass to Jerry Rodriguez to break a tie score and continue the strong season for the Blue Tide. Harrison trailed 28-21 with under six minutes to play when Dustin Huseinovic ran 41 yards for his third touchdown of the game to tie the contest. After a key illegal block wiped out an apparent New Milford score, the Knights ended up turning the ball over following a failed fake punt.
O'Donnell then led Harrison 55 yards in just four plays for the winning score. It capped a big night for the senior quarterback, who went 14-of-19 through the air for 163 yards and three touchdowns, and also ran for 146 yards and another score. Huseinovic had 127 rushing yards, including his touchdown, while he caught four passes for 63 yards and two scores. Rodriguez ended up with three catches for 51 yards and the winning TD. For New Milford, Christian Correa had another big night, rushing for 129 yards and three touchdowns. He also had two touchdowns called back on penalties. Ryan Picinic went 9-of-15 passing for 147 yards and a touchdown for the Knights. Rhys Farley was the leading receiver, catching three passes for 58 yards and the score. Brett Kornberg had an interception for New Milford, while Rialey Matthews recorded nine tackles, including two sacks. Jeff Cisneros was the leading tackler for Harrison with 11. The Blue Tide improve to 5-1 and finish second in the NJIC Liberty Division. New Milford falls to 4-2 and finishes third in the division. Both teams will now play crossover games against Glen Rock and Lyndhurst, teams that finished with similar records in another division of the conference. The results of those games will have a major impact on the state tournament hopes of both squads.
