After being frustrated for more than 50 minutes, Delbarton broke through in its sectional quarterfinal boys' soccer match against Pingry. The Green Wave put home a pair of goals in the second half, which was plenty for a 2-0 victory. Charles Cadena broke the scoreless tie about 12 minutes into the second half with a wicked bending shot from 25 yards out. About a dozen minutes later, Ethan Fabricant blasted home a rebound to double the lead and put the game away.
Kian Alberto and Matt Pease had assists for the fourth-seeded Green Wave. Kyle Swift posted the shutout for Delbarton, but saw little action; he was credited with four saves. Pingry, the fifth seed, got eight saves from goalkeeper Owen Wolfson. The Big Blue finish the season at 12-5-1. Delbarton is trying to capture the North Non-Public A title after a disappointing loss on penalty kicks in the Morris County tournament final. The Green Wave is 16-3-1 overall and will meet top seed Bergen Catholic in the semifinals.
