A big run in the first quarter proved decisive as the Mountain Lakes boys' basketball team won its third straight game to start the winter season. The Lakers posted a 17-2 surge and went on to defeat Parsippany, 57-42. After falling behind in the opening moments of the first period, Mountain Lakes dominated the rest of the quarter to take a 19-7 lead. Parsippany never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Jake Marshall led the Lakers with 15 points and 16 rebounds. His steal and slam dunk punctuated the key run. Tate Gillie added 12 points for Mountain Lakes. Jake Schicke, Jack Baker and Jed Perler had nine points apiece. Ralph Joam-Francois led Parsippany with eight points. David Ton and Daniel Ruggieri had seven points apiece for the Red Hawks, who fall to 0-2. At 3-0, Mountain Lakes faces a key challenge against Chatham before the holiday weekend.
