Montville stormed from behind by scoring four straight goals in he second period, then held on for the entire final stanza to surprise Ramapo, 6-5. The victory at the Ice Vault Holiday Classic is the first win of the ice hockey season for the Mustangs. Aaron Scheine recorded a hat trick, scoring all of his goals in the second period. Daniel Scheine added a pair of goals, including what proved to be the game-winner on a tip-in, just seconds before the end of that period.
The Scheine brothers each had an assist. James Reynolds scored the other Montville goal and recorded four assists on the night. Goalie Matt Faulkner made 29 saves and kept Ramapo off the scoreboard for the final 25-plus minutes of the contest. Michael Pear scored twice and added an assist to lead Ramapo. Ben Surat had a goal and an assist, as did Michael Lagana. Kyle Livernois also scored for the Raiders and Zach Van Peenan recorded two assists. Luke Mutterer made 37 saves in what was a wide-open contest. Montville, which had a couple of close calls earlier in the season, is now 1-9-1 overall with the win. Ramapo slips to 3-6-2.
