VIDEO: Chatham wins defensive battle against Montville | ||

In a game dominated by defense, a 10-1 run proved decisive for the Chatham boys' basketball squad. The Cougars put together that surge in the fourth quarter, then held on in the chaotic final seconds to defeat Montville, 37-34. Graham LeMon led all scorers with 13 points for Chatham. LeMon used his size to good effect against the smaller Montville team at both ends of the floor, including a three-point play to cap off the key run for the Cougars.
Mac Bredahl scored nine points and Jack Rooney had five for Chatham. Montville trailed by six after the Chatham surge, but cut the deficit in half on an Alex Landis three-pointer. The Mustangs then got a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but their shot from beyond the arc hit the rim twice and fell off. Landis led Montville with 12 points. Liam Cassidy and Joe DelloStritto added eight points apiece for the Mustangs, who fall to 6-6. Chatham improves to 10-3 with the win and remains tied for first place in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference United Division.
