For once, Ramapo played from ahead, and the Green Raiders didn't miss their opportunity. Maintaining the lead for most of the contest, Ramapo snapped a four-game slide with a 58-52 victory over Wayne Valley. Jason Oppler scored 15 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 20 for Ramapo. K.C. Hunt added 17 points for the Raiders in the game played at Passaic Valley High School as part of the three-day Coaches vs. Cancer Showcase.
John Whooley added 10 points for Ramapo. The Raiders raced out to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter, only to see Wayne Valley charge back to tie the game early in the second period. But Ramapo seized the lead again, and held it for the rest of the contest. A.J. Tedesco had 10 points in the first quarter for Wayne Valley, and finished with 15. Mark Howell scored nine points and Matt Widovic added eight for the Indians, who slip to 6-6. Ramapo, which made late rallies in each of its last four games only to fall short at the end, improves to 7-7. The Raiders play Paramus Catholic on Tuesday night, and a win will make them eligible for the upcoming Bergen County Jamboree.
