The inside work by Michael Schretter, along with the ball-handling and outside shooting of Tommy Carver, helped lift the Ridgewood boys' basketball team to a win over Ramapo. The Maroons gained control of the game in the second quarter on their way to a 55-40 triumph. Schretter scored a game-high 16 points, mostly on shots right around the rim. Carver ran the Ridgewood offense and hit a pair of big three-pointers in the third quarter to stop a Ramapo comeback attempt; he finished with 10 points.
Quin Peene added 12 points for the Maroons, who avenged an opening-night loss to the Green Raiders. Ridgewood outscored Ramapo 16-8 in the second quarter. John Whooley had 11 points to pace the Raiders. Jason Oppler scored nine and Robert Dvoretsky had eight for Ramapo, which falls to 8-8 on the season. Ridgewood is now 9-6. Both teams will play first-round games in the Bergen County Jamboree on Saturday.
