Down seven points in the third quarter, the Hackensack boys' basketball team owned the rest of the game, pulling away to beat Ramapo 61-47. The Comets had a 12-2 run to end the third quarter, and a matching surge to conclude the game. Razeyah Surrell led Hackensack with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Mykel Swanston scored 14 points for the Comets with four assists, while B.J. Saliba notched 13 points.
Hackensack trailed 31-24 before its strong finish to the third quarter. The Comets maintained their lead, then finished with a flurry to push the final margin into double digits. It's the second time this season that Hackensack has defeated Ramapo. K.C. Hunt poured in a game-high 23 points for the Green Raiders. Jason Oppler added 12 points for Ramapo, which slips to 9-9 on the season. Hackensack is now 13-5. Both squads will play this weekend in the second round of the Bergen County Jamboree.
