VIDEO: Wayne Valley holds on, surprises Kennedy

Taking the lead in the second quarter and repelling all comeback attempts, the Wayne Valley girls' basketball team earned an upset win over Paterson Kennedy. The Indians held on for the 38-31 triumph to end the Knights' seven-game winning streak.

Stephanie LaGreca led a balanced Wayne Valley offense with 10 points. Kaitlyn Cook scored eight points and Carson Thomas added seven for the Indians.

Wayne Valley finished the second quarter on a 9-3 run to take a five-point lead at the half. After Kennedy pulled within two points in the third quarter, the Indians ended that period with a 9-2 spurt to go ahead 28-19.

Kennedy got within four points twice in the final period, but Wayne Valley was able to hang on.

Cha'liya Brown had 11 points to pace Kennedy. O'lesheya Braxton scored 10 and Latice Cunningham added six. The Knights slip to 15-5 on the season.

Wayne Valley, which has been up and down all winter, is 8-10 with the victory.
