VIDEO: Ramapo's second-half surge sinks Bergen Tech
Written by - Wednesday, February 22 2017

Inconsistency on offense has been the main reason why Ramapo's record has hovered around .500 this boys' basketball season. The Green Raiders showed both their good and bad sides in a 52-38 win over Bergen Tech.

Ramapo struggled mightily over the first two-plus quarters as Bergen Tech built an eight-point lead. But in the final 13 minutes of the game, the Raiders outscored the Knights 35-13 as they found their rhythm.

The second-half surge was also keyed by Ramapo's aggressive defense, which started to wear down Bergen Tech and create turnovers.

K.C. Hunt led Ramapo with 15 points, including eight in the fourth quarter. Jason Oppler helped kick-start the Raider offense with eight points in the third period and finished with 12 overall.

Bergen Tech built its lead behind some good outside shooting in the second and third quarters. But the Knights managed just three field goals in the final 13 minutes of the contest.

Andrew Yoon led Bergen Tech with 13 points. Steve Lai scored seven and Howell Nunez added six for the Knights, who fall to 13-11 overall. Bergen Tech will be the 11th seed in the upcoming North 1, Group IV sectional playoffs.

Ramapo also now has a 13-11 record. The Raiders have one more regular-season game, then begin play in the North 1, Group III playoffs, where they will be the seventh seed.
