It was a long-awaited day in the Seton Hall Prep community as the school finally opened its new athletic field. But the first official victory on the new artificial turf surface belonged to the visiting team, Summit, which scored an 8-6 boys' lacrosse triumph. Chris Fowler notched three goals, while Harry Kilkowski scored twice and added three assists for the Hilltoppers. Corey McManus also had a pair of goals and Finn McTernan added one tally.
Goalies Will Vitton and Pat Moriarty combined for 10 saves for Summit. Seton Hall Prep got two goals apiece from Luke Blanc and Griffin Westlin. The Pirates erased a two-goal halftime deficit, but saw Summit score the next two and could not mount another rally. The new field, located at the Kelly Athletic Complex, was dedicated to Brendan Tevlin, a former Seton Hall athlete killed by gunfire three years ago while driving home from a friend's house. Tevlin's younger brother, Brian, is a senior on this year's team and had a goal and an assist in the first official game at the new stadium. This was the season opener for both squads.
