While some other teams have grabbed more headlines, Seton Hall Prep can put up its resume this season against any boys' basketball team in New Jersey. The Pirates continued to roll with an 87-49 triumph over American History in the Essex County Tournament quarterfinals. T.J. Gibbs had 23 points and five assists despite sitting out a portion of the game after injuring his wrist. Ryan Toohers also scored 23 for the Pirates, while Stephen Ferraro had 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Seton Hall leapt out to a nine-point lead in the opening minutes of the contest, and led by 14 after one quarter and 20 at the half. American History, the ninth seed in the county tournament, got 20 points from Yvens Monfluery. Papie Roberts added 12 for the Bald Eagles, who fall to 14-9. The Pirates are now 24-1, and unbeaten against New Jersey competition. Seton Hall's only loss came to Montverde Academy of Florida, ranked among the top five teams in the nation. Seton Hall will face Newark West Side in the Essex County semifinals.
