Caldwell relied on the three-point shot to keep its girls' basketball game against Montclair Kimberley close. But in the final minutes of the contest, the Chiefs found other ways to score, and pulled out a 50-46 victory on Senior Night. Down in the fourth quarter, Caldwell closed the game on a 9-1 run that did not include any three-pointers. Up until that point, 30 of the 41 points scored by the Chiefs had come by way of the trey.
Senior Nicolette Tufano led the way for Caldwell, scoring a game-high 23 points with six long-distance bombs. Tufano also contributed five rebounds and five assists. Alyssa DeBlasis had the other four three-pointers for the Chiefs and scored a total of 20 points, along with eight rebounds. Kelly Pierce added four points and 10 rebounds for Caldwell. Montclair Kimberley was led by Izzy Mendez, who scored 14 points. Leah Murphy and Kerri McGuire had 11 points apiece for the Cougars. MKA falls to 11-8 with two regular-season games remaining.
