Randolph made a statement recently with wins over state-ranked Hunterdon Central and Red Bank Catholic. But the game against archrival Roxbury always means a lot more. The Rams continued their recent run of strong play with a come-from-behind 4-2 win over the Gaels. Pitcher Tyler Poulin went the distance, allowing seven hits and striking out seven.
Poulin was touched for two runs in the third inning as Roxbury took a 2-0 lead. Matt Marzocca's line double keyed the rally for the Gaels. But a big double play got Poulin out of a jam in the fourth, and he was strong the rest of the way. Meantime, Randolph picked up a run in the top of the fourth on a Brian Boulineau single. And the Rams went ahead to stay in the fifth. Andrew Conklin drove in the tying run with a single and the go-ahead run scored on a fielder's choice. Randolph is now 6-3 and gained the third seed for the upcoming Morris County Tournament. Roxbury falls to 5-3-1 but still gained the fourth seed for the MCT.
