County tournament season is here for baseball and softball teams in northwest New Jersey. And you can follow the results here on All Sports Media North. The Morris County tournament began this past weekend in both sports with the preliminary round of play. Those results reduced the field to 16 teams.
In baseball, the nine winners will join seven teams with byes to play the first round this Saturday. The winners of those games must turn around and play again Sunday in the quarterfinals. The semifinals take place May 5 at Delbarton, and the finals are set for the evening of May 13 at Horseshoe Lake Park in Roxbury. Defending champion Delbarton is again the top seed, followed by Montville, Randolph and Roxbury. In softball, the first round games take place this Tuesday, with the quarterfinals Saturday. The semifinals are set for May 2 and the finals May 9, both at Petersen Field in Rockaway. Pequannock, the four-time defending champ, is seeded third after a couple of early losses this season. Jefferson is the top seed, followed by Morris Knolls. The Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournaments start this week with preliminary games. The first full round is set for this weekend, with one round to be played each weekend until the finals. Both the baseball and softball HWS finals are set for Saturday, May 18, at Diamond Nation in Flemington. Both games are to be played at 7:30.
