Montville couldn't get much going at the plate in its baseball matchup with Wayne Valley. Fortunately for the Mustangs, Mike Biase didn't need a lot of help. Biase pitched a six-hit complete game shutout to lead Montville to a 2-0 win over the Indians. The right-hander had just two strikeouts as he relied on his defense to make the plays. The Mustangs played error-free baseball in the victory.
Brock Caudill had an RBI single and Tyler Benson had a pair of hits for Montville. Matt Tsukroff scored the first run for the Mustangs when he hustled home from third on a pickoff attempt. Caudill and Benson also made key defensive plays to stymie Wayne Valley's best scoring opportunity of the game, when it loaded the bases with one out in the third inning. Indians pitcher Jake Anderson also pitched a complete game six-hitter. Joe Trabucco had a pair of hits including a double. Wayne Valley falls to 5-4 with the loss. Montville is now 5-2-1 on the season. This was a non-league contest but the two teams used to be league foes in the old Northern Hills Conference.
