Caldwell captured the last six bouts of what had been a close match with Cedar Grove as the Super Essex Conference wrestling season got underway. The Chiefs pulled away for a 46-22 triumph.

With Caldwell trailing 22-18 heading into 160 pounds, Christian Dalla Riva scored a 3-0 decision over Michael Dugan to start the decisive run. Dante Capozzoli then recorded a pin at 170 and Ryan Schaffer won by stalling disqualification at 182. Matthew Maddaloni then earned a 15-4 major decision at 195 to lock up the victory for Caldwell.

220-pounder Mark Piersanti added a pin for the Chiefs and Ian Davison scored a decision at heavyweight to cap the six-bout streak. Caldwell also got pins from Joe Carola (126) and Dean Caravela (132).

Cedar Grove won five of the seven bouts between 113 and 152. Anthony Clarizio had a pin in overtime at 113 pounds, and 138-pounder Joseph McCarthy also notched a fall for the Panthers. Cedar Grove is 3-4 in dual meets this season.

Caldwell improves to 2-1 with the win.
