Things haven't gone so easily for the Morristown-Beard girls' ice hockey team this season. And the Crimson's home game against Princeton Day School was another tough one. Despite a wide advantage in shots, Morristown-Beard had to fight for a 2-1 victory. Ally Detre had a goal and an assist for the Crimson; her goal in the third period proved to be the game-winner.
Detre also set up Keegan Heher's power-play goal in the second period. Jenna Kurz and Samantha Hutchinson also had assists for the Crimson, and goalie Lindsay Pych made 15 saves. Annika Asplundh, the Princeton Day goalie, kept her team in the game with 37 saves. The Panthers made things interesting when Julie David scored with less than two minutes to go off an assist from Kiely French. But Morristown-Beard never allowed another shot on goal. With many new players on the roster this season, Morristown-Beard has had a tougher time than in past years. The Crimson has suffered three losses and hasn't had as many easy wins as in past years. Mo-Beard is now 11-3 overall. Princeton Day is 7-6-1. For sports video highlights of this New Jersey high school girls' ice hockey game, click play in the box at left. |
