Kyle Greve proved too much for the Pascack Valley defense to handle, and his big effort boosted Wayne Valley to a first-round state tournament boys' basketball victory. Greve scored 30 points as Wayne Valley rolled to a 77-61 victory. The fourth-seeded Indians move on to the sectional quarterfinals.
Wayne Valley pulled out to a 13-point halftime lead, but Pascack Valley made things interesting with a 16-4 third-quarter run to close the deficit to five. Greve helped the Indians stretch the lead back to 13 by the end of the third quarter, then answered Pascack Valley's surge in the fourth quarter as well. Nick Goodwin added 18 points for Wayne Valley, while Andrew Popadics scored 12 points. Eric Zicarelli paced Pascack Valley with 24 points. Colin Dedrick scored 13 and Legend Dominguez added nine for the 13th-seeded visitors, also known as the Indians. Pascack Valley finishes its season at 9-15. Wayne Valley hosts rival West Milford in the sectional quarterfinal, scheduled to be played Thursday weather permitting.
